\nEmmanuel Tibloux<\/strong>, Director of the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs de Paris, and promoter of the Post-master Design des mondes ruraux, an ENSAD program in the Dordogne dedicated to the development of rural areas through design, talks to designer Samuel Tomatis<\/strong>, who is constantly pushing back the potential of algae, about a bio-design through which living beings, human and non-human, help and regulate each other in a reciprocal way.<\/p>\n

Conversation Ao\u00fbt 2023, Jardin Lapidaire, Arles (France)<\/em> <\/p>\n Samuel Tomatis<\/strong> graduated in 2016 from ENSCI – Les Ateliers, following a diploma at the Institut Sup\u00e9rieur des Arts Appliqu\u00e9s. The young designer has a close relationship with science and ecology. His work oscillates between industrial design and ephemeral architecture. Seduced by the sea and the phenomenon of tides, his research revolves around the world of maritime resources, and seaweed in particular. He collaborates with a wide range of professionals, including scientists and craftsmen. \nEmmanuel Tibloux<\/strong> has been Director of the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs since 2018, formerly Director of the Ecole nationale sup\u00e9rieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. An alumnus of the \u00c9cole normale sup\u00e9rieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, he has directed the \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d’art et de design de Saint-Etienne, the \u00c9cole r\u00e9gionale des Beaux-Arts de Valence and the Institut fran\u00e7ais de Bilbao. Emmanuel Tibloux’s project for the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs takes into account the specific characteristics of this school of excellence, which welcomes over 800 students a year. In 2019, he initiated the plan for a “Transition School”, making the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs the first higher education establishment to adopt an ecological transition plan. He is also the initiator of the Post-master Design of rural worlds<\/a><\/em>, a delocalized program at the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs in Nontron, Dordogne.<\/p>\n
\nWinner of numerous awards including the Agora Design Grant, the Grand Prix de la Cr\u00e9ation de la Ville de Paris and the Dezeen Awards, his work has been exhibited at the Villa Noailles, the Design Museum in Gent, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Maison&Objet in Japan and the Centre Pompidou. He is the winner of the Dialogues award of the Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour l’Intelligence de la Main (2022).<\/p>\n
