Fondation Thalie and the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Arts D\u00e9coratifs de Paris join forces for the 3rd season of the series of conversations\u00a0Creators facing climate emergency<\/i>, and invite visual artist Suzanne Husky<\/strong>\u00a0and sociologist Genevi\u00e8ve Pruvost <\/b>to address the theme of the ecofeminism.<\/b><\/p>\n

Launched in 2020 by the Fondation Thalie\u2019s founder<\/span>\u00a0Nathalie Guiot<\/strong>, the series of conversations Creators facing climate emergency<\/strong><\/em><\/a> calls upon the creative vision of the artist to imagine alternative futures and to reveal scientific facts through sensory experiences that involve collaboration with scientists and\u00a0to foster greater knowledge-sharing between these two disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guests : Suzanne Husky<\/strong>, artist and Genevi\u00e8ve Pruvost<\/strong>, sociologist of work and gender at the Centre d’\u00e9tude des mouvements sociaux (EHESS).
\nCo-moderated by Stefano Vendramin<\/strong>, coordinator of the programme and Lucile Encrev\u00e9<\/strong>,\u00a0PhD, art and design historian, professor at the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs.<\/p>\n

Ecofeminism: does everyday life have “the power of metamorphosis and invention”?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ecofeminism questions the links between the destruction of the environment and the oppression of women, both of which are based on a system of violence and domination: can this field of study and action become a source of inspiration and an emancipatory path for contemporary creation, as well as provide additional tools to act in the face of climate change? How can artists and creators, through this prism, transform their practices and invest the political field of the “least gesture” and “inter-subsistence”, by taking inspiration from existing collective struggles (such as those of the Zones \u00c0 D\u00e9fendre), by listening to and inventing other narratives, and by turning to other knowledge?<\/p>\n

The guests<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Trained by the Earth, then in landscape design and agro-ecology, Suzanne Husky develops an artistic practice which observes the forms of domination over the living and their interconnections: can we \u201cwork with the Earth\u201d rather than fight against it? \u00a0Her works take the form of a regenerated soil, a forest garden, a search for the knowledges of the Earth present in tales or a tapestry on birds and the formation and evolution of soils. In 2016, she created with St\u00e9phanie Sagot Le Nouveau Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Agriculture <\/em><\/strong>[The New Ministry of Agriculture], a fictional institution that aims to unmask the absurdities of French agricultural policies and provides concrete solutions to get out of an extractive model of society.
\nIn 2021, she presents her work at the Villa Medici Film Festival in Rome, the Timi\u0219oara Biennial, Transpalette in Bourges, and IAC Villeurbanne\/Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes, as well as at the Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine in Bordeaux (2020), the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2020), the 16th Istanbul Biennial (2019), and most recently the 16th Lyon Biennial of Contemporary Art (2022). Suzanne Husky is represented by the Alain Gutharc Gallery<\/a> in Paris.<\/p>\n

Genevi\u00e8ve Pruvost<\/strong> is a sociologist of work and gender at the Centre d’\u00e9tude des mouvements sociaux (EHESS). She is a bronze medalist of the CNRS. Her current research focuses on the politicisation of the smallest gesture and ecological alternatives. She has published Profession policier, sexe f\u00e9minin<\/em> (Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, 2007) and Quotidien politique. F\u00e9minisme, \u00e9cologie, subsistance<\/em> (La D\u00e9couverte, 2021). She co-edited the book Penser la violence des femmes<\/em> (La D\u00e9couverte poche, 2017).<\/p>\n

Based on a curatorial proposal by Fondation Thalie, this third season hosted at the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs is organised by Stefano Vendramin<\/strong>, coordinator of the programme Creators facing the climate emergency, in co-construction with Francesca Cozzolino<\/strong>, teacher in human and social sciences, and Patrick Laffont-DeLojo<\/strong>, teacher in stage design at the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs.<\/p>\n
