Fondation Thalie and the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, Paris join forces for the 3rd season of the series Creators facing climate emergency<\/em> and invite\u00a0Claudia Pasquero<\/strong>, co-founder of the\u00a0innovative design lab ecoLogicStudio<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0Nathalie Blanc<\/strong>,\u00a0director of the Earth Politics Centre<\/span>, <\/span>to address the topic of <\/span>the<\/b> post-human city<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Launched in 2020 by the Fondation Thalie\u2019s founder<\/span>\u00a0Nathalie Guiot<\/strong>, the series of conversations Creators facing climate emergency<\/strong><\/em><\/a> calls upon the creative vision of the artist to imagine alternative futures and to reveal scientific facts through sensory experiences that involve collaboration with scientists and\u00a0to foster greater knowledge-sharing between these two disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guests : Claudia Pasquero<\/strong>, co-founder of ecoLogic Studio\u00a0and\u00a0Nathalie Blanc<\/strong>,\u00a0geographer, artist and\u00a0director of the Earth Politics Centre.\u00a0<\/span>
\nCo-moderated by\u00a0Stefano Vendramin<\/strong>, curator of the programme \u201cCreators facing climate emergency\u201d<\/span>, and Aur\u00e9lie Moss\u00e9<\/strong>, PhD, professor of textile and material design at the \u00c9cole des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, and co-director of the Soft Matters research group at Ensadlab.<\/p>\n

How can today\u2019s waste and pollution become a solution to feed and sustain humanity? In what ways can organic and artificial intelligence influence post-anthropocentric architecture? And how can we define the new aesthetics of a post-human world?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Claudia Pasquero, architect and co-founder of <\/span>ecoLogicStudio<\/span>, works on the transformation of our lifestyles and urban landscapes through solutions inspired by non-human elements<\/span>, such as slime mould<\/span>, microalgae, and artificial <\/span>intelligence.<\/span> This conversation with Nathalie Blanc, director of research at the CNRS and director of the <\/span>Earth Politics Center<\/span>, will <\/span>explore<\/span> their work in favour of an <\/span>\u2018environmental aesthetic\u2019<\/span> and <\/span>new \u201cpost-human\u201d<\/span> architectures <\/span>that may help us<\/span> to respond to the climate emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe guests<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Claudia Pasquero<\/strong> is an architect, curator and author operating at the intersection of biology, computation and design. She co-founded with Marco Poletto ecoLogicStudio<\/a><\/strong>, an architectural and urban design studio which has built up an international reputation for its innovative work on \u2018systemic\u2019 design<\/strong>. The London-based studio aims at shaping a definition of a new ecology of space and behavior<\/strong> combining systemic thinking, computational design, bio-hacking and digital prototyping.
\nEcoLogicStudio’s projects have been exhibited internationally, including at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, Design Museum, London, Venice Architecture Biennale, Mori Museum in Tokyo, ZKM Karlsruhe, Saudi Art Biennale in Riyadh, COP26 in Glasgow.
\nClaudia Pasquero also curated the 2017 Tallinn Architecture Biennale<\/a>, and co-edited the publication Systemic Architecture – Operating manual for the self-organizing city<\/em> (Routledge editions, 2012). The forthcoming publication\u00a0DeepGreen, bio-design in the age of artificial intelligence, <\/i>will result \u00a0from the\u00a0collaboration with the UN for planning a new urban green strategy<\/a> with Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nathalie Blanc<\/strong> is Director of Research at the CNRS, Director of the Earth Politics Center<\/a>, and a pioneer of eco-criticism in France<\/strong>. She has published and coordinated various research programmes, notably on environmental aesthetics, nature in cities and environmental mobilisations. A founding member of the French Environmental Humanities portal, she was also the French delegate for the COST European research network “Investigating cultural sustainability” and subsequently the delegate for the COST European programme on new materialisms “How Matter Matters” (2016-2019).
\nShe is also the author of Form, art, and environment: engaging in sustainability<\/em> (Routledge, 2016), an artist and curator working on the theme of ecological fragility. Since 2017, Nathalie Blanc has been leading and coordinating the Laboratoire de la Culture Durable<\/em><\/a>, devoted to urban soils in the Anthropocene and sustainable food, which has led to experiments in writing and exhibitions (Domaine de Chamarande, 2016; Ferme des Cultures du Monde, Saint-Denis).<\/p>\n
