{"id":16352,"date":"2021-08-18T15:40:38","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T13:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fondationthalie.org\/fr\/?p=16352"},"modified":"2022-11-02T19:41:52","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T18:41:52","slug":"equinoxes-oublier-le-spleen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.fondationthalie.org\/en\/events\/reading-on-music\/francais-equinoxes-oublier-le-spleen\/","title":{"rendered":"Equinoxes: FORGETTING THE SPLEEN&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h1>Baudelaire Poetry Day<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>IN-PERSON EVENT AT THE FOUNDATION AND BROADCAST LIVE<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Every year, as part of the <strong>Extra! literary festival<\/strong>, the <strong>Centre Pompidou<\/strong> and some fifteen cultural institutions in France and abroad join forces for a new international poetry day, dedicated to an emblematic figure. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationthalie.org\/en\/podcasts\/english-equinoxes-fragile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">After last year&#8217;s tribute to the American poet <strong>John Giorno<\/strong><\/a>, this time the focus is on the modern poet par excellence, <strong>Charles Baudelaire<\/strong> (1821-1867).<\/p>\n<p>For the second carte blanche at Centre Pompidou&#8217;s invitation, the Foundation is bringing together artists and poets to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of the author of <em>Fleurs du Mal<\/em> and <em>Petits po\u00e8mes en prose<\/em>. <strong>The aim is to pay an offbeat and resolutely contemporary tribute to one of the great inventors of modern poetry<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis event that takes place at the Foundation draws out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationthalie.org\/en\/podcasts?tags%5B0%5D=229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Equinoxes&#8217; online poetry platform<\/strong><\/a> which from April 2020 <strong>have brought together some 180 guests over a period of fifteen months<\/strong> and resulted in <strong>two publications of unique texts published by<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.editions-ishtar.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Editions Ishtar<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Forgetting the spleen&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;I have more memories than if I were a thousand years old&#8221; wrote Baudelaire in <em>Spleen<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Memory, a crucial phenomenon in our lives, often marvels and sometimes tortures. Wonderful because without memory, it is impossible to learn; without memory, civilisations and their evolution could not exist. Wonder when our memories bring us closer to childhood, wonder also that the memory of the body, which reminds us of our organic joys and our unconscious learning, and oh marvellous Madeleine, and oh marvellous flowers, luxury and voluptuousness&#8230; Torture, on the other hand, when it is impossible for us to forget the painful moments of our past life, when the altered memory weighs down the weight of a thousand years of life, and sometimes inflicts on us even sick syndromes.<\/p>\n<p>I have more memories than if I were a thousand years old<\/p>\n<p>A large chest of drawers cluttered with balance sheets,<br \/>\nOf verses, sweet notes, trials, romances,<br \/>\nWith heavy hair rolled in receipts,<br \/>\nHides fewer secrets than my sad brain&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My sad brain&#8221;?
